We are halfway there to meeting our baby girl, and we couldn’t be more excited! Since little miss was a surprise, we had already gotten rid of most of our baby items as our youngest outgrew them- meaning we will need to go out and get all of our favorites as well as a few new additions before she gets here.
There’s also something exciting about expecting your third versus your first. You finally feel confident in what you need, don’t need, where to splurge, and what you can finally let go of that you held onto *juuust in case* for years.
From bottles to breast pumps, clothes to toys, and swaddles to baby baths, we will need it all! And since the pressure of hand-me-downs is gone, we are excited to try new items and get things recommended over the years by family and friends.
One thing we know will be returning, is all our favorite VTech toys – as well as some new additions. One of the things each of our boys got brand new, was a Kick & Play mat, and I already tucked away a new VTech Kick & Score Playgym for her! This one will last her even longer than any others I’ve seen, going well into toddler years since it can transform into a soccer goal when she’s walking around working on balancing and kicking skills.
I love to get all the kids play gyms because they really do last for so long. Each of my kids have enjoyed tummy time and looking up at the dangling toys during their first weeks, and exploring it more in depth months later- playing with the buttons, lights, and other fun features.
The VTech Kick & Score Playgym is a multi-stage, developmental play mat/gym that includes a detachable plush soccer ball, learning panel and five gym play pieces. The detachable activity panel teaches colors shapes and animals, strengthening language skills and providing on-the-go play and exploration with music and songs.
From tummy time to strengthen those core muscles, to running around and kicking soccer goals- this play gym really does provide years of playtime and entertainment making it the perfect newborn or baby shower gift, holiday present or birthday gift.
Another fun toy we have set aside is the VTech Turn + Learn Ferris Wheel. Her cousin caught ahold of this one in my living room and has been utterly obsessed with spinning it around and around enjoying the music and lights. And the best part? It has a suction cup base so you can attach it to a floor, table, or their high chair so you aren’t constantly having to pick it up for them!
And the last toy we have for now is her brother’s favorite, the VTech Turtle’s Busy Day Soft Book. Her brother is obsessed with books and reading stories to his brother, and he can’t wait to do the same for his sister. The gentle sounds and soft light perfectly complements the soft book with a ton of surprises on each page.
With mirrors, puppets, peek-a-boo pages and fun crinkly wings, it’s a book that will last through several stages while keeping baby’s attention.
While setting a few things aside for her arrival, I couldn’t resist also getting a special baby blanket and a few footed Aden + Anais pajamas to replace the ones we had donated as my littlest outgrew them.
I love how soft the Aden + Anais pajamas are, and so many of their styles are neutral for all babies to wear- perfect since we didn’t know if we were having a boy or girl when purchasing a few basic items. My oldest is so excited for his sister’s arrival, and couldn’t believe how tiny she was going to be when he held up the pajamas we got!
The Yoga Sprout blanket is also one of our favorites, my oldest still uses his as his travel blankey! With a buttery soft outer side, and a super snuggly warm inside, it’s the perfect blanket for all my winter babies. The thicker material is also great for tummy time or floor time when you have hard floors or thin carpet like we do.
These are just a few of the items we are slowly gathering for our little one’s arrival, and I’m sure there will be a mountain of things we will end up spoiling her with.
