Eyelash Extensions Pros And Cons
I have received complementary eyelash extension services in exchange for sharing my experiences with my readers and audience. All thoughts and opinions below are my own.
If you have seen me on Instagram recently, you will know I am absolutely obsessed with the eyelash extensions I have been getting at the Bethany Village Lash Lounge. I mean, obsessed! My stylist, Taylor, W. has made sure of it. She made sure to walk me through every option with my first set, and has given suggestions to chance up my style like adding extra volume, changing mink for classic lashes, and suggested products to help extend the life of my extensions. She has known exactly what I need every time, and I highly suggest getting to know her if you are thinking about heading their way!
I have never been the person to wear very much makeup, dress in flashy outfits, or take obscene amounts of selfies- let alone post them. But since I have started getting lash extensions, I have felt more confident, beautiful, and, well… more like the person I want to be. Now, I know that sounds cheesy, but it is the truth! And it has all started with one of the smallest features on my body.
I have had a love/hate relationship with my eyes ever since middle school. I honestly love the color of my eyes- green with specks of brown, gold, and hazel. But my eyes are SO SMALL! If I smile too large in a photo, it looks like I blinked. I think I have worn eye shadow exactly 5 times in my life because I feel like it won’t look right… And since becoming a mother, even putting on a fresh face of basic makeup each day has not been a priority.
Since I have started getting lash extensions, I have not only made my eyes appear larger than they are, it has taken back years of insecurities and has given me a newfound confidence I didn’t know I had.
What are the pros and cons of eyelash extension?

Here Are The Pros And Cons Of Eyelash Extensions:
Pros Of Eyelash Extensions:
-
The obvious: you have a thick, full set of lashes without needing to use falsies!
- I don’t think I have ever properly applies a pair of false lashes. And watching my little sister wear them to her dance competition last weekend made me cringe! The thick plastic lining, and cheap lashes were glaringly obvious that they were false. Being able to see the difference between mine and hers was truly eye opening.
-
Your eyelashes are dark- no need for mascara/you don’t need to remember to remove mascara.
- I am thankful to already have dark eyelashes, but they have almost no curl to them. I would have to curl my lashes and apply mascara to help them stay up everyday. Now, I just wipe the sleep from my face and go!
- My grandmother just tried lash extensions for the first time last month, she has very thin, and almost transparent lashes they are so blonde. She honestly looked like an entirely different person with a new frame of dark, lush, lashes.
-
Eyelash extensions can majorly boost your confidence.
- I have actually turned into a bit of a diva! I feel comfortable taking more photos of myself, I feel sexier in front of my husband, and I just feel more confident overall in life.
-
Lash extensions make it easier to rock a makeup free look.
- Where I would usually spend 20 minutes alone putting makeup on my eyes (primers, liner, curling, mascara, etc.), I no longer even wear makeup on my lashes or eyes! I have found a new love for my eyes the way they are.
-
You can change up your look with each fill.
- YES! You do have options, and you will learn what you like with each new fill. You can choose different lengths, volumes, and even what type of lashes you want applied. I have tried a different combination each time I’ve gotten a fill. SO far my favorite is the longest length, classic, with volume. I told you, I’ve turned into a diva! 😉
Cons Of Eyelash Extensions:
-
You can’t rub your eyes like you usually do.
- You can gently rub out irritation, but you can’t “get in there!” This was one of the hardest transitions for me when I got my first set. Thankfully, your lashes are pretty well set in place, so if you make this mistake a few times, your set isn’t ruined.
-
You need to get a fill every 2-3 weeks, depending on how fast your lashes fall out.
- You won’t be able to tell how often you will need a fill until you have completed a full cycle. By the end of two weeks, my lashes have definitely thinned out, but are still noticeably fuller and darker. But once you receive that fill, you will be shocked at how many had fallen out, and how glamorous you are all over again!
-
Eyelash extension application is a long process, and needs to be done frequently (fills are much shorter).
- It takes 2-3 hours for an initial lash extension set, which is a long time to lay still with someone poking at your eyelashes. Thankfully, The Lash Lounge provides pillows for your legs, blankets, and headphones. It is a long process, but completely worth it in the end!
-
