Spring break vacation is closer than you might think. If you’re planning a tropical vacation, you may be wondering what to pack. Should it be all shorts and tee shirts? What essentials should you bring along? Let’s take a closer look at packing for a family tropical spring break vacation.
Research the Area for Clothing Suggestions
You may think that all tropical areas are sunny and call for shorts and tee shirts. Well, it depends. If you’re going to a tropical area that has forests, for example, you would probably want to bring clothing that protects you from the bugs, ticks, and even snakes. It pays to research the area to determine exactly what clothing you will need to bring. Who knows? The area may also have extreme rains from time to time.
Make a List
Once you’ve done your research, make a list of everything you want to bring. If you like, you can have a list for each member of your family and have them in charge of packing their own bags. Go over your list several times to make sure it has everything you’re going to need.
Lay Items Out on the Bed and Check Each Item Off Your List
Once you have your checklist, lay the items out on the bed and check them off as you add each to your bag. This will help ensure that you’ve packed everything you need. Some things you can pack early, others you may have to wait to pack until a couple days before leaving.
Remember the Essentials
There are several things you want to make sure you remember to pack. You want pack a first aid kit, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, an umbrella and poncho (if the area has rainy days), cash (keep in an area separate from your wallet), cell phone chargers, and medications.
Include Rainy Day Activities
Last, but not least, a vacation can often become derailed because bad weather moves into the area. Make sure you’ve got some rainy day activities packed. This could be books, tablets, card games, etc. Just make sure you’re prepared should you have to spend a day cooped up in your hotel room.
A tropical spring break vacation can be a wonderful getaway from the everyday stresses of life. However, you want to make sure you pack accordingly. Research the area. Make a checklist. Remember the essentials. And, be prepared for bad weather days.
