Well, I have survived the first eight weeks of motherhood! And while it has been the most incredible experience of my life so far, it has not been without difficulties and struggle. When my little one was about 3 weeks old, he started to develop colic. It was one of the most scary and frustrating things- I had no idea what colic was, and all I knew is that my baby was in misery. That meant my husband and I were also in misery, staying up all night trying to sooth him, only for him to cry most of the night.
I talked to my pediatrician, and he couldn’t give me much more than “let him cry it out” and “try to burp him more often during feedings.” I knew there had to be more I could do. After doing my own research, I decided to try out the new Philips Avent Natural bottle, which is fitted with an anti-colic valve to reduce discomfort by venting air into the bottle and not baby’s tummy. Our little one has had such a noticeable improvement with his colic and gas since we have started using this bottle.
As a first-time mom, I am trying my best to go as natural as possible with everything we do. Using the Philip Avent Natural bottle has been perfect since it has an ultra soft nipple that closely resembles and mimics the breast, this way he doesn’t have any trouble latching while breastfeeding between bottles. Thankfully, my little one accepted this bottle successfully and we couldn’t be more glad.
I trust Philips Avent so much because for more than 30 years, they have been listening, learning and innovating in partnership with parents– all with the mission to help give babies the best start in life. They are the bottles that my parents used with my siblings and me, and they are the bottles I will choose to use with my son and all my children after.
Since his colic has started to subside, I can finally get a whopping 2 solid hours of sleep at a time! Hey, we take what we can get, and I couldn’t have a better reason to get up in the middle of the night.
