Every year, my family and I have absolutely loved going to Oak Park Oktoberfest! But what does Oaks Park Oktoberfest look like this year?
I think it’s an understatement to say that Covid-19 has put a damper on many, many events, gatherings, and activities this year. But how is it going to affect events in the fall & winter months- especially those that are outside? The one that comes to my mind immediately is Oak Park Oktoberfest– the one fall event we look forward to each year with live music, food, friends, and the crisp autumn air.
Will there be an Oak Park Oktoberfest this year?
Unfortunately, the answer is no… Oaks Park Oktoberfest will not be happening this year. Oaks Park is actually closing their doors midway through the season for the first time in 115 years due to Covid-19- something that hasn’t happened through floods, wars, or economic ups and downs. This will include their amusement park, roller rink, pavellion rentals, and events such as the Oaks Park Oktoberfest.
Oaks Park hopes to resume some operations toward the end of their 2020 winter quarter, and open again fully in the 2021 season. For ongoing updates and information, head to their Oaks Amusement Park Website! There are also fundraising and crowdfunding opportunities in the talks if you would like to help make sure this historic park can last 115 more years and beyond! If you haven’t been before, check out their website or Instagram page to see all the fun they have so you can visit when they are back up and running.
We will miss you all at the 2020 Oaks Park Oktoberfest, but I hope your family stays healthy & well, and can enjoy some bratwurst & cabbage at home!
