Thank you, Lash Lounge, for providing me with a complementary set of lash extensions in exchange for my opinion and review!
So, I FINALLY did something that I have wanted for a while, but have been too nervous about. I got lash extensions! And honestly? I have turned into a bit of a diva. All I have to do anymore, is bat my luxurious lashes at my husband, and he will do anything. 😉
But seriously, I am absolutely in love with my new set of lashes. I have always had relatively small eyes, and my eyelashes are long, but do not curl- so you would never really see them. And after many, many failed attempts at putting false lashes on, I figured I had no other options.
I had heard about lash extensions several times, but was too nervous to give them a try. I mean, laying down for 2-3 hours while someone fiddles with your eyes? I would think of hundreds of better things to do. That is, until I tried it myself. Here’s how it all went down!
Getting Your First Set Of Lashes At The Lash Lounge!
Arrive 5 Minutes Early: There will be a little bit of paperwork for you to fill out, including a short questionnaire. This will ask if you rub your eyes, were contacts, etc. This way, your consultant can give you tips on how to take care of your lashes best.
Consultation: You will have your lashes measured, and go over the questionnaire. This is also the best time to ask about the process, and any lash care questions you have.
Cleaning: You will lay down on a super comfy couch with your eyes closed. Your lashes and eye area will be thoroughly cleaned with a cotton and a cleanser, and then washed away with a small stream of water (this caught me by surprise, and I am a HUGE baby about it, lol). It is important not to touch your eyes or lashes at this point.
Taping: You will open your eyes wide, and look up as your consultant “tapes” down your bottom lashes. It is not super sticky, but is very thick. They will also use thin strips of tape to keep your eyelids taunt- it feels like an eye lift. These parts may be a little uncomfortable in general, but you forget they are there after you close your eyes.
Relax: This is when you will start getting your lash extensions done! You will be provided with a pillow for your knees, a blanket, and headphones to listen to music to make the process more comfortable and go quicker. I actually ended up dozing off a couple of times! It is important to keep your eyes closed until your consultant taps you on the shoulder (or whichever cue they give you).
The Process: Each lash will be applied individually, so it is a long process. You may feel brushing on your eyelashes and eyelids as they reach lashes that have not yet had an extension placed in them. A dry mascara brush will also be used to smooth and detangle your lashes often. It will be run through your new set of lashes many times after all extensions have been put in place. If you have sensitive lashes/eyelids, I would recommend taking ibuprofen before your appointment to avoid any discomfort. Overall, there was very little if an discomfort, and you felt very relaxed. It also seemed to go much quicker with the help of a heavy blanket and music!
That’s A Wrap: All of the tape will be gently pulled off, and your consultant will examine your lashes. Do not open your eyes until she/he gives you the go ahead! Take a look at your stunning new look!
Products: I did purchase their recommended products: an oil and alcohol free eye cleaner, a lash extending serum to extend the life of the extensions, and an oil free mascara (AMAZING so far for natural lashes and extensions). If you buy all three, you get a discount!
Overall, I am so excited and love my new look! I will be going back in two weeks for a fill, and I will give you all an update! Hubby already wants me to get a membership- so I will wait to see how often I will need a fill since everyone is different. I highly recommend The Lash Lounge, and hope you will give it a try if you have been curious!
