Homemade Pizza Dough Recipe
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
2 1/2 cups flour (can use white flour or wheat flour or a combination of both)
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons honey
3/4 cup cold water
Directions:
Dissolve dry yeast in warm water and let stand for 10 minutes. Set aside.
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, olive oil, honey and cold water. Add yeast mixture and knead for five minutes, adding more flour if needed. Form into a ball and place in well-oiled bowl. Cover and let rise about an hour.
Divide dough into 4 balls. With floured rolling pin or oiled hands, shape into individual rounds, approximately 1/2 inch thick. Brush each shell lightly with olive oil and place on hot grill. Cook for five minutes.
Carefully, flip pizza shells with tongs or spatula and cook on grill for another two or three minutes. Top with favorite pizza sauce, shredded cheese and toppings. Close grill and let cook just until cheese melts. Remove and serve on wooden cutting board. Slice with pizza cutter. Serve hot off the grill.
Favorite Pizza Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
6 ounces tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon pepper
Mix all ingredients in small bowl. Cover and let stand at room temperature for an hour to allow flavors to blend.
Barbecue Chicken Pizza
To create a barbecue chicken pizza, follow above instructions. Combine one part pizza sauce with one part barbecue sauce. Top with shredded Monterey Jack cheese, diced pre-cooked chicken and sliced red onion.
Meat Lover’s Pizza
On top of sauce and cheese, add browned Italian bulk sausage, sliced pepperoni and ground beef.
Hawaiian Pizza
