If I had to choose one comfort food for the rest of my life, it would definitely be fried chicken! And this Hot Honey Fried Chicken recipe takes the cake. I’ve tried hot sauces, whipped honey, and even store bought hot honey- but none of them have that slow, smoky burn I crave. So? I made my own! With roasted and charred chili peppers, a bit of sriracha, and fresh, local honey- my dream came true.
Be careful when making your hot honey! It will come to a boil rapidly, and will try to boil over. Well, it DID boil over in my case. Our house smelled like smoke for a week, and there is still sticky honey all over my stove, but it was so worth it! So definitely use a large pot like you would for soup.
Feel free to get a little creative with your honey, I have made several different batches recently and tried adding in whole peppercorns, clove, paprika, and cayenne. Each of these spices give a totally different layer of flavor, spice, and smokiness. Let me know what you come up with, and how it turned out!
But the reason this Hot Honey Fried Chicken truly tasted so good, is because I used products that I felt GOOD about using. I recently got to try out several chicken products from the all NEW Perdue Farms– a sister company of the Perdue Farms you know and love. And you can definitely tell the difference!

Hot Honey Fried Chicken Recipe
Hot Honey Fried Chicken:
Serves 4-6
Ingredients:
Chicken:
- 3 Chicken Breast, thinly sliced into fillets
- 1 Cup Flour
- 1 Cup Milk
- 3 Eggs, whisked
- 1 Tsp. Pepper
- 1 Tsp. Salt
- 1 Tsp. Paprika
- 1/2 Tsp. Dried Parsley
- Oil For Frying
Hot Honey:
- 1 Cup Honey
- 4-5 Dried Chili Peppers, of your choice
- 1-3 Tsp. Sriracha Sauce, to taste
Directions:
- Set your oven to High Broil, and roast your chili peppers until they start smoking and are slightly charred.
- Add the peppers into a large pot along with the honey. Bring to a rapid boil, and then reduce to a simmer. Let the honey simmer for about 30-60 minutes, stirring occasionally. *Note: use a much larger pot than you think you will need, the honey will rise fast, and try to boil over (like mine did 😂)!
- Pour your honey through a fine strainer, stir in sriracha sauce, and let cool.
- Meanwhile, coat the bottom of a large pan with about 1/2 an inch of oil over medium-high heat.
- Place your flour, milk and eggs into 3 different dishes creating a 3 step station. Dip both sides of your chicken into the milk, then flour, then eggs, and back into the flour.
- Immediately place the chicken into the hot pan, and fry until golden. Flip, and cook on the other side until the chicken is done and the outside is crisp.
- Place the chicken on a rack or paper towel to drain excess oil, and place in a warm oven to keep hot.
- Repeat the above steps until all of your chicken is cooked. Top with hot honey, and serve immediately with your favorite sides.
- Enjoy!
