Whenever I’m asked the question, “If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?,” the answer is ALWAYS pizza. I must have gotten that from my mom, because her answer is the same. But, despite my deep love for it, I have come to the realization that I have never made my own pizza from scratch! Sure, I’ve brought home pre-made dough that never seems to form a circle, but it’s never the same. So, when I was challenged to make my own pizza from scratch with Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast, I was pretty intimidated but overall excited.
The recipe on Fleischmann’s® website was labeled “easy,” so that has to mean something, right? So I got right to work!
It was the easiest thing I’ve done all day.
I read over the instructions and couldn’t believe it. I’ve baked with traditional yeast before, and it is a long process. With this, all you have to do is dump, mix, knead, rest, and you’re good to go!
Now you may be thinking that there is no way this will taste like real pizza; it was way too easy. Whelp, wrong again! Never have I seen a dough more easy to manage, a crust rise to perfection, and actually cook evenly. Homemade truly is the way to go. Not only does it always taste better, but you feel good about what you are feeding your family, especially when you use a trusted brand that has been around for over 150 years like Fleischmann’s®.

Homemade BBQ Pork Pizza
Ingredients:
Pizza Dough:
-
1-3/4 to 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 Packet Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast
-
1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
-
3/4 teaspoon salt
-
2/3 cup very warm water (120° to 130°F)*
-
3 tablespoons Canola oil
Toppings:
- 3/4 C. BBQ Sauce
- 1/2 C. Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- 8-10 Slices Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 C. Pulled Pork, fully cooked
- 1/4 C. Cilantro
Directions:
- Follow instructions below exactly for best results.
- For the dough, combine 1 cup flour, Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast , sugar and salt in a large bowl.
- Add very warm water and oil. Mix until well blended, about 1 minute. Water should be heated to 120˚F-130˚F. Always use a thermometer to check temperature when available. Follow instructions on the packet. Another tip: When using Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast, make sure you check the expiration date. If expired, your dough won’t rise properly.
- Gradually add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough. Dough should form a ball and will be slightly sticky.
- Knead** on a floured surface, adding additional flour if necessary, until smooth and elastic. Let dough rest at this point for 10 minutes.
- Pat dough with floured hands to fill greased pizza pan or baking sheet OR roll dough on a floured counter to 12-inch circle; place in greased pizza pan or baking sheet. Form a rim by pinching the edge of the dough.
- Place all of your toppings on the pizza, and bake at 425 for 12-15 minutes.
- Let cool slightly, slice, and enjoy!
