Fun St. Patrick’s Day Traditions For Your Family!
We need more time to celebrate. Life can be difficult at times and the more reasons we have to smile the better. That doesn’t mean you need to spend a lot of money. It just means you need to have fun. St. Patrick’s Day, for example, is a great time to start some fun traditions with your family. Let’s take a closer look.
Wear Green
It almost goes without saying, but just in case you need a reminder, it’s an absolute must to wear green. Remember being a kid and pinching the other kids that didn’t wear green? If you’re not comfortable with that tradition, just make it a tradition to wear green.
Feed the Leprechaun
This is such a cute idea for little ones. On the 16th, leave out some Lucky Charms and a little note thanking the leprechaun for all the luck you’ll all have on St. Patrick’s Day. After the kids go to bed or before they get up, scatter the Lucky Charms around the table and leave a small (tiny) note that thanks the family for the delightful meal and promises that good luck will be with your family.
Green Food Taste Test
Gather some fun green foods for the kids to try. It could be kiwi, green apples, different green candies and treats, lime Kool-Aid, etc. Just have fun with it. This would also be a good time to try to get kids to try some green veggies.
Make Green Drinks and Snacks
You can also make green drinks and snacks. All you need to do is add green food coloring. You can make green milk, green frosting for cupcakes, shamrock rice krispies, and cookies, Andes fudge, etc. Just have fun with it.
Hit the Drive Thru for Those Coveted Shamrock Shakes
Of course, what would the month of March be without a Shamrock Shake from McDonald’s?
Create a Lucky Chain
Last, but not least, starting on March 1, have everyone in the family write down something they are lucky to have or be. For example, you might write down that you’re lucky to be the mom of such amazing kids. Write these down on strips of paper and staple it to make a ring. Continue each day until St. Patrick’s Day. You can make one long chain or have everyone make their own. These would be fun to look back on years from now.
St. Patrick’s Day can be a fun holiday for the entire family. What are some of your favorite traditions? Leave a comment below.
