Dozer Day In The North West!

Yesterday, we went to the cutest event EVER! Clark County was holding a Dozer Day festival. And from halfway down the parking lot, our little one was tripping over his rainboots with wide eyes saying “WOW!” to every crane, truck, and bulldozer he saw!
My husband is a construction worker, and it is a HARD job. He goes to work in the rain, snow, and cold. And he also faces the heat, sun, and dust. He will spend entire days crouched in a space half his height. Be up at 3am to do a concrete pour, and put in countless hours of overtime to meet deadlines.
I’ve told him time after time how much I appreciate him and all of the work he does. After all, if it were up to me to do his job, I think we would be living in a box on the side of the road somewhere. 😬
But today, he didn’t hate his job. He didn’t feel exhausted or defeated. Today he wasn’t thinking about the delays at his current site, or angry about our sudden move due to work.
No, today he felt pride.
He felt excited.
Seeing our little one “ooh” and “ahh” at the bull*hit he puts up with on a daily basis let him know it is all worth it. He doesn’t need to be a policeman, or a pilot, or an astronaut to be the dad with the coolest job in the world.
Just honk a horn, flash your yellow lights, and give him a shovel. He will be the happiest little boy, and look up to his dad like he is his biggest hero. And in so many ways, he is.
