Got a little one who’s just bouncing with energy? Can’t seem to handle your baby’s hyperactive
behavior and get them to sleep? Parenting is tough in itself no doubt, and having a baby who just can’t seem to sit still for a few minutes can definitely make it tougher, and if you can relate, we’ve got something to help. Look below for 5 ways to handle an overactive baby.
Channel the Energy
One of the best ways to handle an overactive baby is to find a way to channel his energy in the
right direction. Depending on his age, you can keep him engrossed in different activities that
require him to keep up his energy and that’ll help him stay focused on one task as well.
Tire Him Out
If your baby seems to be too active to go to bed, tiring him out before bedtime can help! You can
engage in him any physical activity or games that you would find appropriate for his age group
and that should help. Let your baby use up all his extra energy an hour before bedtime, so it’s
easier for you to make him sleep.
Set Him Free
Trying to control your little one from doing whatever he does will only make things worse, and
you’ll probably end up having a baby that’s not just full of energy but cranky as hell. Instead, set
him free and let him do whatever he wants to- don’t ‘not’ allow him to spend his energy
wherever he wants to.
Sing Along
There’s nothing better than calming an overactive baby with some music, especially if he’s too
young. Music works in many ways- it helps your baby become less on the edge and more calm
and relaxed, and to add to that, it’ll also help him stay more focused and concentrated on the
music, tackling distracted behavior single handedly.
Creativity Rules
Depending on your baby’s age group, allow him to explore his creative side with paints, colors
and a free reign. Art is therapeutic for adults, and it works wonders for children too. It’ll keep
your little one focused, and best of all, something good will come out of it!
This is great loved the tips. We defiently do all of these. We had a hard getting a Jojo going to sleep so he went from 2 naps down to 1 and now after his nap. We try to make sure we cant be active and get him tried enough to go to bed around 8:30 that way i have time with my husband.
