Fall is finally here! And that means the fun, fruity flavors of summer are coming to an end. But, no need to worry- the bold, woody flavors of fall are going to save the day. Crisp fall days were made for drinks like ice cold whisky, apple cider with a splash of Schnapps, and fizzy ciders.
While I love a fruity beverage, I know my heart truly belongs to rainy days, and the drinks that come along with it. Look below to see some of the flavors I’m enjoying this season!
St. Elder Natural Elderflower Liqueur
I was SO excited to receive this Elderflower Liqueur! It is crafted in small batches from an extract of fresh elderflower blossoms. St. Elder brightens up every cocktail with notes of sweet citrus and floral honey. Blend it with a variety of spirits, wines, and beer for a wonderfully refreshing experience. St. Elder offers up silky floral notes, alpine herb aromas, undertones of sweet ripe stone fruits, and notes of citrusy grapefruit on the palate.
I personally loved mixing this with bourbon, and a splash of lemon!
West Cork Distillers Bourbon Cask
West Cork Distillers is an artisan independent Irish whiskey. With a careful eye for detail, West Cork Distillers use only pot stills in all their whiskey distillation and only fresh local spring water. It is the only Irish distillery to exclusively malt its own barley and embrace artisan techniques. West Cork Distillers Bourbon Cask is a delicate blend of grain and malt whiskey matured in bourbon casks, delivering a smooth and approachable whiskey with a soft vanilla finish.
Bourbon is incredible for pretty much everything! From on the rocks, mixed into cocktails, or even creating your own vanilla extract. This is a perfect, smooth Bourbon to keep on hand for all of your needs.
Canella Bellini
Not ready to say goodbye to those fruity summer days? The ready-to-drink Canella Bellini is the perfect summer to fall transition beverage! It is brilliantly bright pink with notes of apple, pear and white flowers. The peaches are grown by the Canella family as well, to ensure maximum quality and freshness. There is an energetic and tangy finish due to the peach juice.
With only 6% residual sugar and about 80 calories per serving, it’s the perfect choice for a quick and effortless “light” cocktail- great for brunch with the ladies, or just an evening in!
Canella Prosecco
Alternatively, if you have the time and prefer to make your Bellinis from scratch, Canella Prosecco is the perfect option for your recipe. This sparkling wine is straw yellow and has fresh and fruity aromas. On the palate, it combines softness and freshness due to the perfect balance of acidity and sugar. Mixed with fresh peach juice or peach puree, it is the perfect bubbly for this iconic cocktail.
Apple Country Spirits: Applejack
Apple Country Spirits has a historic approach to their apple-based alcohols. They make Applejacks, the oldest liquor in America. First produced in the 1690s in colonial New Jersey, this liquor is most similar to moonshine made with apples and can take the place of brandy or whisky in cocktails. Made from apples and aged for two years in authentic Kentucky bourbon barrels, Apple Country Spirits Applejacks starts with aromas of nutmeg and butterscotch and ends with notes of molasses.
Applejack is a great base for Old Fashioneds, Sours, and other dark liquor drinks.
Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin
Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin was just released in the United States earlier this year. This unique and flavorful gin is triple-distilled and handcrafted in a traditional copper pot at one of India’s oldest distilleries, Rampur Distillery, located in the foothills of the Himalayas. It incorporates botanicals from the four corners of India, with strong flavorful notes of darjeeling tea.
This gin is like no other gin I have ever tasted! The unique taste of the tea added a touch of flavor you can’t get with any other spirit I’ve tasted. I loved adding this into a Peach and Thyme Gin and Tonic, the tea, peach, and thyme blended together in a refreshingly sweet way.
Embark Craft Ciderworks
There’s nothing my hubby and I love more than cracking into a crisp, cold cider when the leaves are falling! And The Pippin Cider does not disappoint!
Embark Craft Ciderworksin Williamson, NY has a cider that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson might have enjoyed. The Pippin Cider is made from the Newtown Pippen apple, which sprang from a seed planted in 1750. Washington and Jefferson were among its early admirers and would enjoy the semi-dry cider’s fresh taste and clean finish. This cidery makes several ciders your great-grandparents would recognize. Their orchard is home to several varieties of heritage apples- apples that are 80 years or older.
Another such cider is their Crab Series Vol. 1. This award-winning dry cider is made of three crabapple varieties balanced with sweetness of two lesser known apple varieties, Tolman Sweet and Rome Beauty.
Blood x Sweat x Tears
Based in Eugene, OR in a once abandoned laundromat-turned-distillery, Blood x Sweat x Tears is a 100% craft spirit using locally sourced ingredients, including Pacific Northwest winter wheat and purified Cascade waters.
I don’t only recommend this vodka for its taste, but also its sleek, matte black and red packaging. Blood x Sweat x Tears Vodka can not only sit beside the “super-premium and craft” brand categories, and hold its weight, but look great on any home bar!
It is definitely a must-have for Fall & Winter, to drink either neat or to make delicious cocktails!
Alacran Reposado Tequila
I love me a good tequila! And tequila is the only spirit my husband truly enjoys. That’s why we were so excited to taste Alacran Reposado Tequila!
Alacran Reposado Tequila uses 100% Weber Blue agave from 7-10 years old harvested in the highlands of Los Altos in Jalisco. It is matured for 4 months in American Oak barrels from bourbon generating a rich, caramel and oak flavor with a hint of vanilla. Ensuring the quality of the product, each bottle is hand labeled and numbered. Alacran Reposado Tequila has a sophisticated flavor and is deliciously smooth with an inviting taste. Excellent as a sipping tequila or can be customized in a cocktail.
